XC Ski Invite

Directions to the next event: Park at either lot marked with the pink "P" on the right side of Intervale Rd past the McNeil Power Plant and make your way to the pink star. The red, green, and orange trails have (some) markers on the ground.

Olympians,

After running events for twelve years, the Vermont winters are finally giving us a chance to delve into the realm of Winter Olympic Events (And just in time for the 2022 Games!)

Up Next - Cross-Country Skiing I: Team Sprint (Classic)

Come down to the Intervale Center on Intervale Rd for some cross-country skiing on Sunday, February 6th at 3pm. Use the map above to navigate to the Orange Trail loop, which is a groomed trail part of the Intervale Center's winter trail system. We'll meet at the pink star. You're encouraged to bring any and all cross country skis and boots you have to share with others who might not have their own equipment. The available equipment may dictate who can be on a team and how we relay with our partners.

So what's Team Sprint?

Teams of two ski six legs (three per person) to complete about 8km of classic style skiing. This means you ski the loop part of the orange trail for two laps, three times and rest in between. The loop is small and mostly flat, so no one should get lost and it's suitable for novices. The rest periods will also allow us to hang out while we're not on course.

So what can I win?

For the uninitiated:

The bronze medalist gets the satisfaction of getting out and being active.

The silver medalist gets the satisfaction of spending time with friends in friendly competition.

The gold medalist gets the satisfaction of their getting their picture with a flag and being barraged with trivial questions in a post-race interview.

The rest of the athletes get the satisfaction of trying out a new activity that they may not have otherwise.

What's Next? - FREESTYLE SKIING I: BIG AIR

Wer'e looking over our calendars and tallying up the potential attendees before scheduling the "Small" Air Event at Hard'Ack in St. Albans, VT. Reach out for details!

Happy belated Groundhog Day from Our Olympics,

-Gustave
